REFLECTIONS ON THE NEW YEAR

by I. M. Divine

Snow falls

White

Until the dogs get at it

Dogs make snow ecumenical

Can’t we all get along?

I stumble into the new year

Will I be able to close my rings?

Or should I just disable my Apple Watch

Why is Apple Watch automatically capitalized?

A question to ponder in the new year.

Meanwhile—

A body at rest stays at rest

A body in motion gets up

To get stand credit on her Apple Watch

To get a snack

To go to the toilet

To find some other place else to rest

Ennui overwhelms me when I consider

Shouldn’t I be doing something?

Like—saving the world?

Or at least folding the clothes?

Maybe emptying the dishwasher?

Dogs have it easy

They lift their legs and let loose

And they don’t even have to buy

Toilet paper
